Featherweight champion Max Holloway will defend his belt for the first time in Detroit – against the man he defeated for the title back in June.

Holloway upset the odds by beating Brazil native Jose Aldo in Rio de Janeiro at UFC 212 and after Frankie Edgar pulled out just three weeks ahead of this weekend’s bout, a rematch was scheduled.

UFC 218 Main Card Start Time

Saturday’s UFC 218 main card will air live on Pay-Per-View at 10:00 P.M. EDT with the prelims starting at 8:00 P.M. EDT on FS1. The Exclusive Fight Pass prelims will begin at 6:15 P.M. EDT.

Holloway, who will turn just 26 on the Monday after the fight, has made waves in the UFC since his debut in 2012 and showed a mature performance to dethrone longest reigning featherweight champion in UFC history.

Aldo was once regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet and one of the superstars of the UFC, with the ‘Blessed’ admitting he grew up watching the 31-year-old.

The Brazilian was up on all three judges’ scorecards in both the first and second rounds in their last meeting so will take confidence from that performance despite the defeat.

Hawaii-born Holloway now holds the longest winning streak in featherweight history, with 11 straight successes, and will be looking to make more history this time out.

Alongside the main event, there are some other eye-catching fights on the card including number-one ranked heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem who takes on the division’s rising star Francis Ngannou.
